This is an old french Powder Puff. It is marked "BREVETE PLI S.G.D.G., MADE IN FRANCE." It unscrews on the top and bottom, and comes apart as shown in the pictures. It appears to be bakelite, or celluloid, and measures approx. 3-1/2" long x 3/4" across. It smells like perfume may have been in it at one time. The "puff" inside feels like a very very soft cotton, and when you push the cylinder up the "puff?" pops out. It does seem like there may have been a victorian scene around it at one time, but some of the black has worn off. It is definitely victorian in style, and probably from the late 1800's-1920's.
